Pioneer SX-828 Stereo AM/FM Receiver
Fully restored in March 2025. We use ONLY hi quality audio grade parts, ordered at Mouser. No corner cutting to save a few bucks.
What was done:
Both filter capacitors have been replaced/upgraded to Cornell Dubilier 8200uF 75V (original caps are 8000uF 50V) with the same diameter to keep the original design and screw terminals (wiring/soldering reliability). Costly now, $54 / pair.
Power output transistors were replaced with Onsemi MJ21195G/MJ21196G
ALL electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with audio grade Nichicon UPW, UKL, WIMA Film caps (<= 4.7uf)
All tired resistors and diodes have been replaced with Onsemi, Fairchild.
Many noisy and tired transistors were replaced: ALL power board, amp, preamp and AMX board.
LED lamp upgrade to warm blue.
Bias and DC Offset adjusted to specs.
TWO main wood cabinet imperfections are pictured on pics #3 and 5.
Comes with a speaker plug pair.
